K. Raghavendra Rao is a veteran Indian film director and producer known for his work primarily in Telugu cinema. He was born on May 23, 1942, in Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh, India. Rao has directed more than 110 films in a career spanning over five decades.
Some of his most notable films include "Pandanti Kapuram," "Devata," "Dharmaatmudu," "Prem Nagar," "Jagadeka Veerudu Athiloka Sundari," and "Annamayya." He is also known for his collaborations with actor Nandamuri Balakrishna and actress Sridevi.
Rao is often referred to as the "Gurugaru" of Telugu cinema due to his immense contribution to the industry. He has won numerous awards and accolades throughout his career, including the prestigious Raghupathi Venkaiah Award in 1991 for his outstanding contribution to Telugu cinema.
Apart from directing, Rao has also produced several successful films under his banner, including the blockbuster film "Shirdi Sai" in 2012. He is considered one of the most respected and talented filmmakers in the South Indian film industry.
